15 suspected party agents have been detained by the police in Katsina State for allegedly plotting to hack the result of the presidential and national assembly election slated for today, Saturday.

The suspects had a number of electronic devices, laptop computers, and other items in their possession when they were arrested, according to SP Gambo Isah, spokesman for the Katsina police command.

However, SP Gambo stated that more inquiry into the case is proceeding and that the findings will be made public in due course.

Because of the sensitivity of the situation, “we invited professionals, and they are performing their job on the system to identify actually what is in the location,” SP Gambo stated.

I am quite happy with the degree of collaboration and coordination between the security agencies, he declared. Each polling place, ward collation center, local government collation center, and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Benin City have been made aware of their plans for security.

“At this point, we’re making an appeal to the populace to exercise their right to participate in government. It is also important to warn everyone who intends to sow discord that the security services are more than prepared to deal with anyone who sows discord.

“People should arrive calmly, proceed to their polling places, ensure that they behave peacefully, complete the accreditation process, cast their votes, and then leave the polling places until it is time for sorting, if they must remain there.”
