Nigeria Decides: Dino Melaye Explained Why He Confronted INEC Chairman At The Collation Center Today

People Democratic Party agent, Senator Dino Melaye has explained the reasons why he stood up to challenge the national chairman of the independent National Electoral Commission at the ongoing collation of results of the 2023 presidential elections.

It would be recalled that the former lawmaker confronted the INEC chairman for not keeping to his words to transmit results from the polling units to the central server.

Speaking to journalist after his outburst, Dino said he was only trying to pressure the INEC chairman to do the right thing.

Hear him “I raised the issue about the electoral act that there should be transmission of results from the polling units. INEC chairman and Festus Okoye have repeatedly assured Nigerians that results will be transmitted directly from the polling units to the server and we find out that it has not been done. INEC failed in this regard. When I raised this issue today which was supported by others party agents, the INEC chairman was trying to prevent me from speaking about it. Electoral act stipulates that in the case that BVAS failed, the result should be canceled in those areas.”
