- We got N511 million through crowdfunding for the Kano Guber campaign – NNPP | The Guardian News and Media
The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano has unveiled public fundraising for its gubernatorial campaign of Abba Kabiru Yusuf popularly known as “Abba Gida”.
At the special crowd fundraising dinner organized by the party to draw financial support from members, NNPP said over N511 million was generated, with the largest individual share came from a member representing Tofa/Dawakin-Tofa/Rimin-Gado at the house of representatives Tijani Abdulkadir Jobe who donated N50 million.
The Chairman of the fundraiser and former presidential assistant, Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, said during the event that the NNPP is dedicated to beginning on the campaign and election process with the assistance of members.
The former House member denied claims of vote buying and election manipulation, adding that the crowdfunding is to gather funds for logistics.
Sumaila claimed that NNPP members are committed and faithful adherents of Kwankwasiyya ideology who are not motivated by financial gain. He emphasized that the NNPP is ready to recapture Kano from the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC) in the gubernatorial election next month.

The NNPP is doing everything in its power to reclaim Kano ahead of the election. Sumaila stated, “We have gathered as the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya family to raise funds for the governorship campaign and election.”
We have received public support totaling over N500 million in less than three hours, and we are still counting. You are aware that because we are not a part of the government, we do not have access to funds provided by the government. As a result, we have launched crowdfunding, in which we seek financial support in any amount.
“I will tell them that they are wrong because our members, who are core loyalists of Kwankwasiyya, are not embracing the ideology because of money, and we don’t need to give out money before getting the vote. For that nursing the insinuation that we are pulling resources to buy or rig election,” I said. The resources are intended for campaign and election logistics.
Abba Kabiru Yusuf, the NNPP’s candidate for governor, praised the donations made by members, reminding them that the party will fulfill the public mandate if elected.
